Safari - fully-featured web browser
Just like Internet Explorer is the default web browser for the Windows operating system, Safari is the default web browser for Mac. Some Windows users aren't pleased with the features and options offered by Internet Explorer and would like to try something else. What if you could use Safari on Windows? This is now possible, as this web browser has a version specially designed for the Windows operating system.
The installation process of this application is similar to the one of common Windows programs, being very simple to complete and requiring only a few clicks for this. After installing and running Safari, the web browser will ask the user whether he would like to set it as default.
Once this step is complete, the user will see the main interface of the web browser and the Apple website, which is the start page. One can easily change the default web page from the program's options section, just like in the case of other web browsers.
Under the address bar, one will notice some sample popular websites, which can be accessed with a single mouse click. The user can easily add his own websites to the favorites bar. For making it easier to navigate to the same websites over and over again, they will all be added to a Top Sites view, where the user can see thumbnails for each of them.
By accessing the options section of Safari, the user can fully customize the program's functionality and also its appearance. Safari supports various extensions, just like other similar web browsers. Extensions can add new features to the browser or can enhance the ones which are already present.
Compared to other similar web browsers, the download manager included in Safari offers a greater downloading speed, together with the possibility to pause and resume a download at any moment.
Pros:
It offers a very good navigation speed and a robust download manager, which allows pausing and resuming downloads. Besides that, the Top Sites view allows anyone to easily navigate to his favorite websites. Furthermore, it includes an efficient pop-up blocker. Moreover, the browser's toolbar can be easily customized.
Cons:
It doesn't include an email client. Besides that, the interface doesn't support any skins.
Safari is a great alternative to any web browser on the market, offering some robust and advanced features that will enhance your browsing experience.
